# Happy Weekend!
This weekend, I stumbled upon an interesting topic from Weekend-engagement 141 proposed by @galenkp. There are some prompts listed [here](https://peakd.com/hive-168869/@galenkp/weekend-engagement-week-141-writing-topics) but one that piqued my interest the most is about childhood. I actually found this when I was reading an entry from @elamaria and that intrigued me to share about mine. I love nostalgia and I think that this topic is nostalgia inducing. So, I can’t pass up this opportunity! One thing from my childhood that I enjoyed and still value to this day is the Go-kart experience I had when I was around eight-years old. At that time, my family and I were on a vacation and we went to a theme park called Kids Fun that has a Go-kart track for all ages. I remember during those days, Go Kart was a novelty and since my dad is a car enthusiast, he certainly didn’t want to miss the experience of racing with a 350CC GoKart. We hopped on a Gokart double where I could sit next to my dad as he was on the steering wheel. He was letting me enjoy the ride but also teaching me how to be a good co-driver and a navigator. The picture that you saw above was the before racing where we were dressed in race car suits, a balaclava that we can take home, and a helmet. I remember looking so cool except I was wearing sandals as you see above. Sadly, I don’t remember most of the experience in detail but all I could remember was how thrilling it was. After that first experience, I ended up going for it twice but I was much older at around 12-ish. But most importantly, I am so thankful that someone in my family took a photo of both of us as a souvenir of that memorable time. The reason why that memory was impactful and fond to me is that the pictures sort of represent my whole childhood. When I was a kid, I was very close with my dad. He taught me many things about engines, cars, and fixing things. And I grew up liking anything racing including Rally cars, F1, MotoGP and dirt bikes. On the left you can see a picture of me with a car ride that works like a bike; there are pedals that move the car. I used to ride around in that car around the neighborhood and honking obnoxiously. And when I was much older, My dad also bought me many Rc rally car controllers that I still have some of its body and controller till today. I went to a lot of car meets with my dad including watching dirt bikes events. It was certainly rare to see a little girl around those hobbies but I had fun anyway. I used to tell my dad that I wanted to watch MotoGP live and I did it last year. That picture also reminded me how I used to remember every street name and many important buildings in Java, where I am from. My family and I used to do a long road trip that took days and passed many towns in Java and also Bali. In the past, we didn’t have google maps and the only way we could go somewhere was either to remember the street and important building markers. I have a photographic memory when it comes to places and my dad was nurturing that ability of mine. I used to bring pen and paper to write down the places and draw it similar to a Co-driver in a rally car. While others were sleeping, I was often talking with my dad and trying to remember how to get to a city. It was always fun and even these days, we are less reliant on Google maps except to find new shops. As I grow older, I sort of become a good navigator and know my way around places. I am less reliant on my phone and all I need is to just remember important buildings or places that are necessary for me to get to where I have to go. Take it as a tip from me if you need to remember places and be good at direction, one of the ways is just remember something easier that you’re most likely to remember, perhaps a hospital, a bank or a unique shop and use it as a point interest to remember.

Don't hesitate to upvote for more content like this !
