<div class=text-justify> Promises have been made right from the beginning of time, the kept ones and the broken ones. Whenever I think of promises, I think of important words said by an important person. Anything aside this is no promise but mere words taken too seriously. I mean, there are people we would take their promises to be a yes and Amen. And there are those who would promise and we know at that point that they are just mere words. Sometimes, I think of who I am to people to around me in terms of making and keeping promises and I can only think of one thing, I'd prefer to keep things on a low or in secret until I've done it, no use making promises beforehand. The Bible have taught us the significance of promises through the promises of God Almighty, they are vows that should not be given or said lightly at any given point in time and they should be kept by all means. I believe if everyone will accept the significance and be conscious of it, we would have less people breaking promises. Making or keeping promises is a delicate issue that many have been involved in whether by impulse or assuredly. As much as everyone wants to keep their promises or want others to keep their promises to them, we still have broken promises and many wish they didn't make them in the first place. I have also had my own regrets. I still remember a promise my uncle made to me when I was little because he broke it and never remembered to keep it, it's been almost two decades and it still comes to mind when I think of people who have promised me in the past. My uncle is someone I respect a lot because of how respectable he is and he's my dad's elder brother. He's way older and even richer then so I had this strong belief that he would definitely keep his promise so I was all happy and excited for when that time will come. He promised I would go to one of the best schools as at then if I passed my coming exams, dad was still struggling so I was happy he'd be relieved from that but he failed. I have also once made the promise to a friend that we would stay friends for a long time, we planned a lot of things we would do when we're done with school and always keep in touch if we had to go far from each other. Sadly, I didn't keep this promise and there were many factors that contributed to why this didn't work out though. One thing I learned from both promises was that, the vow sayer didn't think of the factors that could cause the promise not to be kept even though they were so sure at the time of giving it. My uncle might have meant well when he made the promise but life happened and the same for my friend and I, we just didn't think it all through. It is always a beautiful moment when promises are being made but it's more beautiful when they are kept, sadly many fail for both valid reasons and not valid ones. I think possible valid reasons for breaking a promise should be related to the person it was made to except on the ground that there are no way to contact the person. </div> **Images used are mine**
