I like to give meanings to things even if my interpretation is wrong, because it has already happened to me that, in the middle of the understanding that I want to give to the lyrics of a song, I end up investigating what was the true intention of the author when writing it; which makes me fall into an imminent disappointment.

The song I bring today by Luis Alberto Spinetta is a perfect example of the above, since its lyrics at first glance may seem like a tender rock ballad full of love poetry. Unfortunately, I did some more research on Spinetta's explanation of Muchacha ojos de papel and he basically says that the song is about obsessive and possessive love, it's like the "need for domination" prevalent in the intrinsic ego of human nature that is in the background of this classic and poetic song. Luis Alberto Spinetta himself demystifies the idea that the song is "color of roses" since in it and observing it from the perspective of the one who recites it, we can find a guy who wants the girl to stay there, and will get her pregnant if necessary.

> Me gusta otorgarle significados a las cosas aunque mi interpretación este equivocada, porque ya me ha sucedido que, en medio de la comprensión que le quiero dar a la letra de una canción, termino investigando cual era la verdadera intención del autor al escribirla; lo cual me hace caer en una decepción inminente.

> La canción que hoy traigo de Luis Alberto Spinetta es un perfecto ejemplar de lo anteriormente explicado,  ya que su letra a simple vista puede parecer una tierna balada rock llena de poesía amorosa. Desafortunadamente, estuve investigando más sobre la explicación de Spinetta acerca de Muchacha ojos de papel y básicamente dice que la canción es un amor obsesivo y posesivo, es como la "necesidad de dominación" predominante en el ego intrínseco de la naturaleza humana la que está en el trasfondo de este clásico y poético tema. El mismo Luis Alberto Spinetta desmitifica la idea de que la canción es "color de rosas" ya que en ella y observándola desde la perspectiva de quien la recita, podemos encontrar a un tipo que quiera que la muchacha se quede allí, y la dejara embarazada si es necesario.

It is very interesting the explanation that Spinetta gives to this theme, observing the poetic and aesthetic panorama from the perception of a macho man. Of course, Spinetta was a really creative being with a very ambiguous mind, which makes his explanation linked to a universe of subjective and pretentious interpretation that permeates almost all the musical composition. Really, this kind of hypothesis is very interesting, because at a psychological level we can find many "tricks" or traumas, erroneous or corrupted aptitudes of the subconscious that are responsible for the aesthetic creation of a work.

> Es muy interesante la explicación que le da Spinetta a este tema, observando el panorama poético y estética desde la percepción de un machista. Claro, Spinetta era un ser realmente creativo con una mente muy ambigua, lo que hace  que su explicación esté ligada a un universo de interpretación subjetiva y pretenciosa que llace en casi toda la composición musical. De verdad, este tipo hipótesis son muy interesantes, porque a nivel psicológico podemos encontrar muchas "mañas" o traumas, aptitudes erróneas o corrompidas del subconsciente que son las responsables de la creación estética de una obra.

What I am trying to say, and what Spinetta surely wanted to say as well, is that (to give an example) his desire to possess and predominate over something or someone, the desire to be the protagonist was what led him to the creation of "Paper Eyes Girl". All this is like the observation of the unconsidered psychological factor that is born in the gift of creativity of an artist. The crazy thing about it all is how our corrupted desires can become linked to madness and lead to the conclusion of beauty. Of course, I think this is something that may vary, perhaps it is not the subconscious corrupt desire that drives creativity, but rather, it may be the union of the dark and light factors of our personality that lead to the hypothesis of creation; the benevolent and evil aspects of desire may be responsible for the formation in poetry.

Well, in the end it is all very relative. Perhaps things simply depend on the inspiration and meaning we give it, what we choose to believe in. It is undeniable that life is dominated by the duality of the forces of lus and darkness, of destruction and creation, it would be foolish to believe that these things are not in us as well. At least I, after studying a little more of the song's background, decided to opt for having fun in this psychological and speculative dilemma while enjoying the love and tender admiration that can be seen superficially in the lyrics of the song.

> Lo que trato de decir, y lo que Spinetta seguramente quería decir también, es que (poniendo un ejemplo) su deseo de poseer y predominar sobre algo o alguien, el afán de querer ser el protagonista fue lo que lo llevó a la creación de "Muchacha ojos de papel"  (Paper Eyes Girl). Todo esto es como la observación del factor psicológico no considerado que nace en el don de la creatividad de un artista. Lo loco de todo esto es como nuestros deseos corruptos pueden llegar a ser ligados a la locura y llevar a la conclusión de la belleza. Por supuesto, creo que esto es algo que puede variar, tal vez no es el deseo corrupto subconsciente el que mueva la creatividad, si no más bien, puede ser la la unión de los factores oscuros y luminosos de nuestra personalidad los que llevan a la hipótesis de la creación; los aspectos de deseos benevolentes y malvados pueden ser los responsables de la formación en la poesía.

> Bueno, al final todo es muy relativo. Tal vez las cosas simplemente dependan de la inspiración y el significado que le demos, en lo que decidamos creer. Es innegable que en la vida predomina la dualidad de las fuerzas de lus y oscuridad, de destrucción y creación, sería tonto creer que esas cosas no están en nosotros también. Por lo menos yo, después de estudiar un poco más del trasfondo de la canción, decidí optar por divertirme en este dilema psicológico y especulativo mientras disfruto del amor y la admiración tierna que se puede ver superficialmente en la letra de la misma.
