The birth of new cultural models that cohabit with old models that refuse to disappear. In these transitional stages, new sociocultural problems begin to emerge that if left unattended generate dangerous behaviors in society.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify" dir="justify">Unfortunately, many of these phenomena are silent and gradually undermine social structures. It is when a tragic event occurs that society reacts.  The loss of a life can serve to show a hidden socio-cultural situation, unknown to the new social models: teacher bullying.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify" dir="justify">This essay seeks to provide conceptual lines and raise awareness of something that may be happening in different houses of study and should be addressed with the seriousness and concern of the case as it affects nothing less and nothing more than the future of a country: The students.</p>

Background.

<p style="text-align: justify" dir="justify">This practice has traditionally been analyzed in the context of companies and hierarchical organizations. However, the growing awareness of the dynamics of power and vulnerability in academia has revealed the existence of a specific problem: faculty bullying in universities.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify" dir="justify">For the purposes of this publication, bullying will be understood as intentional and repetitive behavior that seeks to cause physical, psychological or social harm to a person. This form of harassment, which can manifest itself in various ways, profoundly affects the mental health and professional development of professors, students and employees, eroding the quality of teaching and research, and deteriorating the work environment in university institutions.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify" dir="justify">So far, American researchers have focused on faculty bullying. This is defined as the repeated and prolonged exposure of a professor to negative and hostile behavior by hierarchical superiors (deans, department heads), colleagues, administrative staff or even students (Einarsen et al., 2020).</p><p style="text-align: justify" dir="justify">The impact of teacher bullying on the victim is significant and multifaceted. Psychological consequences include chronic stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, insomnia, and in severe cases, even suicidal thoughts (Nielsen &amp; Einarsen, 2012). In the professional setting, this practice can result in decreased productivity, loss of motivation, absenteeism, job resignation, and difficulty in maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships with colleagues and students (Balducci et al., 2011).</p>

La pérdida de una vida puede servir para mostrar una situación sociocultural oculta, desconocida para los nuevos modelos sociales: El bullying profesoral.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify" dir="justify">Con este ensayo se busca aportar líneas conceptuales y despertar conciencia en algo que puede estar sucediendo en distintas casas de estudio y que debe ser abordado con la seriedad y la preocupación del caso ya que afecta nada menos y nada más que al futuro de un país: Los estudiantes.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify" dir="justify">Esta práctica, ha sido tradicionalmente analizada en el contexto de las empresas y organizaciones jerárquicas. Sin embargo, la creciente conciencia sobre la dinámica del poder y la vulnerabilidad en el ámbito académico ha revelado la existencia de una problemática específica: el bullying profesoral en las universidades.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify" dir="justify">Para efectos de esta publicación El bullying, será entendido como un comportamiento intencional y repetitivo que busca causar daño físico, psicológico o social a una persona. Esta forma de acoso, que puede manifestarse de diversas maneras, afecta profundamente la salud mental y el desarrollo profesional de los profesores, estudiantes y empleados, erosionando la calidad de la docencia y la investigación, y deteriorando el clima laboral en las instituciones universitarias.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify" dir="justify">Hasta ahora los investigadores norteamericanos se han centrado en el bullying sobre el profesorado. EL cual se define como la exposición repetida y prolongada de un profesor a comportamientos negativos y hostiles por parte de superiores jerárquicos (decanos, directores de departamento), colegas, personal administrativo o incluso estudiantes (Einarsen et al., 2020).</p>

<p style="text-align: justify" dir="justify">El impacto del bullying profesoral en la víctima es significativo y multifacético. Las consecuencias psicológicas incluyen estrés crónico, ansiedad, depresión, baja autoestima, insomnio, y en casos severos, incluso pensamientos suicidas (Nielsen &amp; Einarsen, 2012). En el ámbito profesional, esta práctica puede resultar en una disminución de la productividad, la pérdida de motivación, el ausentismo laboral, la renuncia al puesto, y la dificultad para mantener relaciones interpersonales saludables con colegas y estudiantes (Balducci et al., 2011).</p>
