I'm the author of [Get On Steem](https://getonsteem.com)
The project is [open source](https://github.com/gpurgal/getonsteem) and source maps are attached so you can check source code directly in your browser.

However, this is the option for developers only.

I wanted to use steemconnect but there are no [scopes](https://github.com/steemit/steemconnect/wiki/OAuth-2#scopes) for creating account 

Active key is required to create an account.
Password is generated (on client side) but you can type whatever you want in password field.

I really like the proposal as it would make projects more trustworthy (or the opposite).
