"Bimpe, you like walking; why must we go to the new pharmacy down the street to get just beverages when we can get them around here?" Joy said to her friend, who was happily walking down the street.

"Loosen up a bit, kini wahala e (what's your problem?). The pharmacy just opened yesterday and I heard their things were cheaper. Those that patronized them yesterday explained how crowded the place was yesterday. People are flooding the new pharmacy because of their low prices, unlike all these shopping malls where their mouths are big (that are expensive)", Bimpe replied.




"We are stressing ourselves now just because of lower prices abi (right)? No problem, let's go", Joy replied looking tired. 





"Do you know how expensive things are in the country now? Who would go to expensive malls when there is a place where they sell at cheaper rates? If you have money to waste my dear, I don't", Bimpe said as she continued walking. 



"We are almost there, don't be lazy. Dey do like person wey month no complete ( be acting like a premature), see the pharmacy there, we are there baby", Bimpe further said. 





On getting to the pharmacy, there was a long queue of people wanting to pay for their purchased goods. Bimpe asked Joy to join the queue while she went ahead to pick the beverages they needed. The queue was moving gradually but not as fast as expected because it was a long queue. After picking up the needed stuff, Bimpe went to join Joy in the queue, but Joy had to tell Bimpe to come in place of her because she wasn't feeling comfortable. The pharmacy was crowded, and it was affecting Joy's breathing because she was an asthmatic patient. Immediately, Bimpe asked her to go outside for fresh air while she stayed in the queue. 




Joy had been battling with asthma since childhood, but because it doesn't affect her much, she doesn't see the need to go about with an inhaler. After queuing for almost 40 minutes, it was Bimpe's turn to pay for the beverages she bought worth just #3000, which she had to queue for that long before she got the chance to pay. While Bimpe was in the queue, Joy was outside just to prevent her from having an attack. 




"Sorry, girl, do you feel better now?" Bimpe asked Joy, feeling concerned. 





"I'm fine, see how long you had to queue for just these small things you bought. Next time, I won't follow you here, keep that in mind", Joy said as she stood up from where she was sitting while waiting for Bimpe outside. 





"We are in harmattan season, you should always use a nose mask when going out. I said the same thing yesterday, but you are too obstinate; you won't listen", Bimpe said to Joy.




"Was it now the harmattan or the congested room? No use style justify this waste of time (don't justify this waste of time)," Joy immediately replied. 





A few days later, there was smoke in Bimpe and Joy's apartment; this was due to their neighbor's negligence. She was cooking beans on a hot plate and then went outside to discuss forgetting she was cooking. The water in the beans dried up and started to burn before the burnt odor could be perceived by anyone; it had burnt beyond recognition, with smoke oozing out of the room and filling the whole compound. 





By this time, Joy, who was in their room, was already coughing incessantly. Bimpe rushed to her and tried to open the windows for fresh ventilation, but that couldn't help. People were trying to off the hot plate cooker to avoid a fire outbreak. Bimpe walked Joy outside where people could help, but the coughing continued; their neighbors were all asking for her inhaler. Immediately, Bimpe told them Joy was an asthmatic patient. Without a second thought, she rushed to the nearby mall, but she was unable to get there. Bimpe ran to the new pharmacy, and as usual, the queue was long. She asked one of the attendants where she could get an inhaler for an asthmatic patient. She ran quickly to the shelf where it was kept then ran back to the queue where she would pay. 




Not having time to wait in the long queue, she went directly to the counter, sweating and begging the attendant to attend to her as she couldn't wait in the queue. As usual, people were shouting and asking her to go back to the queue but she paid no attention to them.





"Hey girl, go back to the queue; we aren't fools for queuing," someone from the queue shouted.




"Yes, tell her to go back; the queue is back here," another person replied. 



Immediately, people in the queue began to murmur, shouting at Bimpe to go and queue, but she kept pleading with tears on her face, explaining that she had a dying friend who needed the inhaler as soon as possible. After so many pleas, she was allowed to pay. 




"No, think you dey wise o, we just agree for you cause blood dey run through our veins too (don't think you are wise, you were allowed because we are humans too)", a voice from behind shouted.





"Thank you, I appreciate it, thank you so so much", Bimpe said breathing hard as she paid and ran off. 





Bimpe ran with all her energy, on getting home, Joy had been resuscitated. Bimpe sat for a few minutes, gasping for air. 




"How are you feeling?" Bimpe asked Joy, who was patting her back. 




"I'm fine; where did you go to that you are panting this hard?" Joy asked curiously. 




No be that new pharmacy,  the queue there fit make person suffocate. Na beg I beg o before they allow me to pay and leave (I went to the new pharmacy,  the queue was suffocating, and I had to beg before they allowed me to pay and leave", Bimpe explained.




"Sorry you had to go through that stress, baby girl," Joy said.



"It's fine at least I got your inhaler, and please, madam, keep this with you always. The kind run wey I run today, I no fit rum am again ( I won't be able to run like I did today next time)", Bimpe said sighing. 




"I've heard you, mummy; thanks for your help," Joy said, hugging Bimpe, and since that day, Bimpe has always made sure Joy went about with her inhaler.
