It's all about that step count!
I've got a minor obsession with my daily step count target.... which I've set at 10K a day, a pretty standard amount I think!

It's a relatively easy target for me to reach, on average, in a typical week...

What's above is a pretty typical week... where I almost make 10K most days and then I go over 10K 2 or 3 days and then have one 'monster' day where I do 15K steps or more.

This is a natural week without any extra effort made to get in 10K steps....

On run days it's very easy to get in 10K, as I do around 6.5K steps on the run and then a simple walk to the coworking space and back makes up to just over 10K usually.

And on the days I don't run, if I do a trip to my allotment (around 3-4K) and a circuits session (around 500 steps all-in) that's around 10K a day too, or sometimes 8-9.

If I do a particularly long stint at the allotment I can rack up 1-2K just moving around it, but most of my steps are walking there and back, it's just over 1K away.

I also find I do a good 1000 a day AT LEAST just pottering around the house doing odds and sods and tidying up.

### It's got to be natural for me to get to 10K

When I was living in Ramsgate a few months back my daily routine wasn't sufficient to get to 10K a day, it was more like 7.5K a day on average, and I found myself inventing reasons to go for a walk, or just going for a walk around the local area for the sake of it.

I quickly found this POINTLESS so I settled for 7.5K. Now in Hereford, my set up is just such that 10-11k on average works so much better!

This isn't in the slightest bit engineered, I like to be living in a way that I can walk everywhere.

Ideally I'd be living in a set up where I live a little further from my coworking space, I'd like to be doing 15K a day steps as standard... but that's one for the future, I can't be just walking for the sake of it.

The only exception to this is walking meditation which I may get into - I did it tonight - 1.5K steps on a quick meditative walk, instead of sitting, it's an option!

### On walking, final thoughts...

I think walking is one of the best activities you can weave into your daily routine, it clears the head, calms you down, and keeps you trim!

And for now 10K a day works pretty well for me, with ease!
