Ronan is part of Kree Public Accuser Corps, who are the one enforcing the law for the Kree empire. There was an incident that a Skrull ship attempt to enter Kree space where he able to stop it. After that event he was promoted to a Supreme Accuser of the Kree Empire. He then revolted to Supreme Intelligence and created a civil war to be able to have a complete control over the Kree Empire. He has the powers to create a black vortex giving him augmented abilities. He well versed on most hand-to-hand combat and having a high IQ which he is an expert on strategy, especially during the major wars on Kree Empire.
