**Historically Speaking** Altcoins have always been the money spinners. However, this cycle has seen [**Bitcoin eating altcoins**](https://sapphirecrypto.org/2025/09/27/accumulate-compound-the-name-of-the-game/). At least, so far. Much is riding on the final quarter of 2025. Historically, the final quarter of the year that follows the halving is where all the action is. That being said, there is usually a lot more action than what we have seen running up to the final quarter. It’s a waiting game now. Altcoins have become increasingly risky. A high tide doesn’t appear to lift all boats as it once did. There have been very few winners so far. As mentioned, this blog has managed to call several star performers. However, not nearly as much as years past. This cycle is different, and much of it is due to Bitcoin taking up all the space in the room. Bitcoin has risen by almost 700% from its bear market low. Altcoins have not followed Bitcoin’s example. Many are still close to their bear market lows. Altcoins tend to rally and fall deeper than Bitcoin. However, this is no longer the case. The market has adjusted the relative ratio between Bitcoin and altcoins. I often address relativity ratios, as they are a key metric required for executing effective trades. **The Same, Only Different!** In a [**recent article**](https://sapphirecrypto.org/2025/09/25/bitcoin-at-600/), I addressed adopting Bitcoin for my trading strategy. This is primarily due to the safety of Bitcoin. However, there are additional benefits to trading Bitcoin in place of altcoins. Healthy volatility is great for trading. However, excessive volatility can be catastrophic. Being on the wrong side of an altcoin trade can be similar to being stuck in sinking sand. It’s only a matter of time before going under. The only way to avoid this is to skip altcoin trades. There is, however, another solution: Trade a more stable asset with leverage. This is where Bitcoin can replace altcoins, at least for trading. Identifying the relativity ratios involved will help to select the appropriate leverage. The downside of Bitcoin is much softer than altcoins. This makes Bitcoin a safer bet, even with leverage. Of course, one must choose the appropriate leverage setting. If the leverage is too high, it will be of little help. Yes, relativity ratios are imperative, and understanding them is key. **Final Thoughts** I have yet to start trading Bitcoin. I am first looking to exit a few small altcoin trades. Remember, [**trading futures with leverage**](https://www.bybit.com/invite?ref=5W4NB) means that one can benefit from both the downside and the upside of the asset being traded. Anyway, all the best, enjoy your weekend, and I will see you in the next one! **Disclaimer** First of all, I am not a financial advisor.
