[Source](https://www.hit.com.au/news/brisbane/calls-for-air-conditioning-in-qld-classrooms-amid-extreme-heat) ## Feeling hot, hot, hot It is this time every year that I start to receive the numerous calls from parents about heat in the classroom. Here in Queensland, it can get quite humid and hot and it makes it very unbearable and hard to focus for students in the classroom. The state school system in this state will install air-conditioning in all classrooms above a certain latitude, however, around Brisbane it is not compulsory for all classrooms to have some sort of cooling. Most classrooms have ceiling fans, but in weather like we have had lately, all these do is swirl the hot air around the room. Often on hot and humid days, I will visit students in their classrooms only to find them melting away and not able to concentrate and learn, particularly late in the day. So the question is always asked by parents: Why is there not air-conditioning in every classroom? Ultimately, this would be the ideal situation, however, as government would not fund this, it is often left up to the Parent and Citizens Association in schools to fundraise to implement air-conditioning. Many schools, particularly in lower socio-economic areas, cannot afford to do this and most larger schools find this economically impossible. In my school, it would cost close to $1 million dollars to effectively air-condition all classrooms across the school. Air-conditioning would enhance the learning environment in classrooms for kids and it would also make classrooms a much better teaching environment for students. What do you think? ### Thanks for reading. ***
Make Sure To Vote For These
Awesome Steem Witnesses!

--- Come and join us in the [Team Australia Discord Channel](https://discord.gg/rVrSZ8w)
Thanks to @ryivhnn and @bearone for the fantastic footers :)
