# Voices Without

---

*The sound echoes back, strange to the ear
A playback of words, as others may hear.
Something familiar, yet trill and hollow,
Like the chest was tight, the breathing shallow.*

*Breaking the edge, at the tip of the tongue,
Holding back tears, to eyelid they hung.
Sounds arrive, that never thought they'd be said,
Yet down that road, today we'll tread.*

*Nothing lasts, nor should it ever be true,
All has its time, including me and you.
No turn and no wave, no last long goodbye,
And over the shoulder, no desiring eye.* 

*A collection of lessons, blown through streets,
Unstapled and untethered, loose in the sheets.
Everything forgotten, fading memories plead,
Nothing will stay, as there will be no need.* 

*Blank the slate, and muted the last word,
Whispered so softly, barely its heard.
It is time to leave, to join wild ranks,
The final passed, is a murmur of thanks.*
