Education And On-Boarding Users: Now There Is An App For That
Life on Steem is really nothing more than a series of repetitive cycles. We see a problem and a Steemian (or group of) solves it.

A lot is made about the lack of marketing and consistent message by Steemit. My view is that people need to stop looking to them for everything. This is a decentralized platform. The new paradigm shift is going to change the way people look at problems and who to solve them. This is all part of taking ownership of the blockchain.

There are a couple Steemians who took issue with the lack of education about this platform and the haphazard way people were fed into this ecosystem. Yet, instead of just leaving it at that, they are doing something about it.

And now @steemonboarding is born.

>@steemonboarding is the first **coordinated effort** to bring Steem to the masses with a concise marketing strategy. We will provide the tools for the community to sell the idea of Steem to potential users in an organized and focused way. Starting with 10 languages and looking to expand to more than 20, our team will work towards mass adoption. (bold mine)

The goal is to create one repository for information for easier access. They assembled a 4 part system which takes a newer person through the process step by step.

Part one is a 2 minute video that explains cryptocurrency and the Steem platfrom.

Part two is going to be a 10 question that will earn the person a free account upon passing.

Part three is to log into steemonboarding where there are another assortment of videos explaining the basics of Steem like Steem Power, voting power and other tips for success on the blockchain.

Part four is a final set of videos detailing the different DApps.

A lack of understanding is a big problem, not only for Steem but the entire crypto community. Having a structured approach can only help in this process.

What I like about this project is the fact that they are not looking at adding millions of users. This is something that many in the social media world focus upon. Their goal is to seek out (filter if you will) **active users**. There is a big difference. This is a way to increase the retention rate.

As we all know, having 10M accounts means little if there are still 50K or 100K coming on here daily.

Some might object to having a testing as part of the process but this team is giving away accounts so having way to ensure that a person has a certain level of comprehension is valid. They are also going to provide the account with some SP to be able to operate. Thus, to best ensure they are allocating their resources as effectively as they can, having a means of filtering people out is needed.

>We will onboard people with a long term, non abusive and community engaged mindset who will know the importance of investing as a way of contributing towards the Steem blockchain.

Here we see a bit of a novel approach. Many focus upon getting the numbers up. That only makes sense since the entire social media world is based upon that.

However, we are witnessing a system being put together to attract people who are interested in being part of a community and contributing to it. Anyone who is here a short while can see the difference in mindset between those who are here to help it grow as compared to those who just want to take from it.

Having a long-term approach to Steem is vital. It is something I try to stress in my writings and hope it had some impact on newer people. However, a lot of the marketing done so far, from what I can see, is with the idea of come to Steem and get rich in 3 posts. The people behind this approach could care less about the **quality** of users, just the numbers.

The @steemonboarding team makes it very clear that long-term thinking will be stressed from the start.

I suggest everyone get behind this project however they can. According to their road map, they are starting to look for translators for the initial videos they are creating. This is an opportunity for all those multi-lingual people to step up and provide some basic assistance.

From their post, they already claimed 500 accounts. If they can use those accounts to add people who are immediately going to contribute on a daily basis, that would increase the present number by 1%.

This could be the start of something that really impacts the blockchain.
