0.000 HBD72$ aggro deception deck with 15/18 wins!
.png) Hello everyone, Getting 15/18 wins in a weekend ranked is no easy task; for me especially since my all time best record ever since I started the game is 14/18 wins with a card draw magic deck. So this week, I noticed among the top winner is a bit of a cheap 72$ aggro deception deck. Now taking into consideration the current state and prices of the cards, a 72$ deck is not that expensive especially if it can get you great amount of wins! It has been a while that I have seen such deck do so outside the war domain! So today in this post I wanted to talk more in detail about that deck and see why it did that well. But let us first take a look at the deck and see if there are any surprising cards in it or no: # The Deck Now we notice that there are not any surprising additions to this deck, and in fact there are very basic, cheap cards too! So how did this deck manage to get this amount of wins? # What makes this deck strong? ## The current meta state If we notice the current state of the meta, we can see that a lot of the matchups that are being played are mostly: Aggro war, Aggro Deception, Aggro Nature, Control War and Control Magic. After taking a look at his match history during the weekend event, almost 80% of his opponents were divided in between those archetypes mentioned above. And these matchups are pretty good for aggro deception in general because it can outrace all of them because they are either too slow (Control) or they do not have that much answers for the hidden stuff in this deck. So this is he first reason for the success of this deck. ## Quality cards The second reason for this deck shining is having quality cards that synchronizes very well and have very unique effects to turn the game around. These cards are usually the most expensive ones in the deck, however, in this case with the deck being somewhat affordable, even these cards does not cost much and they are: ### Shadow of Lethenon Whenever we talk about aggro deception, of course we have to talk about this cat! This is the most expensive card in the deck, however not that expensive for the value it provides and still kind of affordable! It does very well with the **Dark Knives** too and is shining currently because most aggro matchups does not have an answer to it. ### Pietro, Merry Bandit This card is like a surprise jack in the box! Bait out as much enemy removal spells as you can, and then bam, get 3 to 4 hidden creatures in 1 turn to surprise and threaten your enemy with tons of face damage! Good quality cards like this takes the deck to a whole new level! ### Merrick, Keeper of the Many Now what makes this card very good here, is how much it fits in this deck. You can literally use it like a clone spell for **Assassin's Aim** and **Dark Knives** by keeping it hidden, using them on another creature and then back you have them on **Merrick** too! You can even end the game in 4 turn with the right cards in the beginning too! Just be sure to bait out spells first if you think your opponent have them! ## Underrated cards Now the 3rd and last reason that is making this cheap deck work so well in my opinion is these underrated cards in it, that are really cheap yet very effective and goes really well with the deck. These cards are like the jokers of the deck and despite costing close to nothing, they provide amazing value and chemistry with the deck and these cards are: ### Feral Shapeshifter This is by far on the best core cards to ever exists in my opinion. It is not only used in aggro deception but also in many other decks like aggro nature and war! But here it works wonders too for being hidden and having a good amount of HP which makes it annoying to kill and a really good threat for the opponent too! ### Lethal Prowler This card is very underrated in my opinion. Most of the times, your opponent does not expect the sudden extra 5 face damage which can be huge for the outcome of the match! After using your strength buff spells, your opponent might you do not have any extra sudden damage anymore but then get slapped with an extra 5 right in the next turn! It is also annoying to remove because it has decent HP which makes really good here! ### Arms Dealer Whenever you have 1 or 2 creatures on the board, and you know your opponent can not remove them, the amount of strength this card provides is really good to get extra damage in as well as the ability to repeat this twice with the echo! It pretty well if you play it first, then **Pietro** next turn you'll get tons of extra damage! # Final Thoughts So these are the reason why I think this deck did wonders to this player, as well as of course him being good and being able to pilot it very well which is a must have condition in all cases! But seeing that most of the cheap decks that are working are mostly from the war domain for the past couple of months, it makes me feel a bit good to see other cheap decks too! Although it is not the cheapest out there, but considering the cost of decks that are able to get 15+ wins this one is pretty cheap I would say. Which makes us wonder too, will **Band of the Wolves** set bring back some cheap decks and making them work even in mythic again like the old days? Let's hope so! That was it for this one, I hope you liked it, be sure to try out this deck if you want maybe you'll get the amount of wins or rank that you hope for! I will definitely be trying it out too and seeing if it will get me similar results to him although it has been a while since I played aggro deception! Hope you all have a great week and I will see you on the next one! Mad Love, Peace out <3
