As a child I have always loved the rain, I love the cool weather, the wet grounds, in fact, I love everything about rainy seasons, because it is always a time I am able to sleep in, and not mind the time I wake up, well that now.

Something happened on a rainy few years ago, I was staying at my aunt's place in port harcourt, I was around seventeen years old. and didn't know how to track my period, I guess every girl should learn that even before they get their period, this day was an embarrassing day to say.

All through the morning, I had been feeling somehow and I was supposed to go to my aunt's shop to help in the sales of the day, this particular day I decided I was staying home, I told my aunt I wasn't feeling well, and she agreed to let me stay home, I was overjoyed, I started with house chores that morning even with feeling so sick and all, I still had to keep the house clean, and just as I was about resting I got a call from my aunt to bring her something from the house, so I picked up the stuff and locked the house as I was the only one at home.

Stepping out of the gate I realized I had forgotten the key to the main gate, I knew I had messed up there, I had to get to my aunt's shop and take her own key, on my way to give her the stuff she requested for, the rain started without any sign and there was no place I could dodge it, so I keep going, I was enjoying the downpour, truly enjoying, just as I was a few minutes away from the shop a woman called me over from her shop, I initially thought she wanted me to leave the rain, and so I shouted to her that I was fine and where I was going to wasn't far anymore but she continued calling and because she was someone I knew i decided to go and use the opportunity to greet her too when i got to the front of her shop, she immediately brought out a wrapper, I was like no no no its fine ma, she then drew my attention to my body, I was beyond embarrased when I saw the dripping red water from my legs, I didnt take notice of it , meaning I have been jumping and runnining in my own blood, I felt like melting ,a nd then she gave me her wrapper to go back home,  but the gate key was the problem, i had to drop the stuff my aunt asked me to bring so i could get her own key, and my aunt shop is always crowded, i thanked the woman and hurried to my aunts shop, i told her my situation , she was just looking at me as if i had losed a nut, i didnt waste time there trying to explain everything to her i just drop the stuff she asked for, too her car keys from the tablle and opened her car at the front of the shop, i took out the gate key, and i was off.

The way I ran back home that day, I guess people would have thought maybe someone was chasing me, I don't know how many people saw me dripping red that day, but I was so embarrassed whenever I saw the woman, she helped me though and I was thankful to her.

Though I still love the rain, and I know better than to keep track of my stuff😜, no one wants to imagine being in my shoes on this day
