Lightning Photography - A Test of Patience ๐Ÿ“ท
An impressive storm of lightning across the lake on an otherwise, beautiful night. I love watching distant storms and being at the lake in the summer, I spend hours on the beach if there are storms around the lake to photograph.

I think this is one of my favorite I've ever captured, just amazing how much lightning was forking down!

I take these with an SLR on a tripod and set them for 5-10 seconds of exposure, which often captures multiple forks.

It was otherwise well past sundown and pitch black without the sky lights flashing on and off.

This one was set for longer exposure, bringing in a little more color from the sky where the sun had set.

I love the subtle colors in the sky of orange and greens.

In a couple hours, I must have seen at least a thousand strikes, as they were forking every few seconds for quite some time.

I tried to show the waters in front with a flash, but it lost the contrast in the background, I think it still looks alright though.

And this is another longer exposure, I love how you can see the front fork just arching out of the cloud to the land.

It was an impressive night, and I was glad to be able to capture it!
