Artificial intelligence in recent times has taken center stage in our digital space, impacting lives in diverse ways, be it in facial recognition, virtual assistants, chatbots, editing tools, or even recommendation algorithms. With all of these boxes ticked, we can all agree that AI is everywhere. The good thing about it is that it's evolving by the day, changing how we interact with the world and live. To start with, when talking about the nitty-gritty of artificial intelligence, according to my understanding, my opinion is that the actual purpose why AI was brought to light is noble and simple: to basically help make life easier, more like a tool that was made to mimic human intelligence and help automate repetitive and complex tasks, also to improve accuracy, enhance efficiency, and save time. Overall, I think the original purpose of AI was to assist humans, not replace us, in finance, customer care, medical diagnosis, manufacturing, and much more. Over time, AI has become broader and integrated itself into almost every aspect of the digital world. This improvement has raised lots of eyebrows. While some are excited about all the potential that'll unfold via this, others are deeply concerned, and if I'm being honest, I wouldn't pick a side because I know it has its ups and downs, so my stand is that we should strike a balance between caution and possibility. ###
The Positive Side of AI
From my perspective, I can't help but be intrigued by the amazing contribution AI has implemented, from empowering education platforms to helping doctors detect disease earlier to helping artisans promote their craft via making AI-generated models that showcase their craft. The possibilities are just endless. I, for one, find AI to be a useful tool in my daily life as a teacher to come up with creative support to enhance teaching and learning styles, research guidance, and much more. ###
The Negative Concerns
While I'm intrigued by the possibility of AI, I'm not blind to the risks attached to it, from ethical questions such as privacy concerns to the rise in misinformation that's spreading faster than ever, even job displacement in different organizations, and that's not even taking into account people's tendency to be over reliant on it, making humans become dull when it comes to decision-making and creativity due to consistent dependence on artificial intelligence to perform every task. ###
Would I put a stop to AI?
Absolutely not, I wouldn't stop the use of AI even if I had the power, but then what I'll do is push for better regulation, create awareness, and better ethics surrounding it. After all, we all can agree that it isn't AI itself that's bad or harmful, but how some people choose to use it, so if we can make AI into an efficient machine that's guided by human values, I think it'll go a long way in clearing people's doubts and concerns about it. In conclusion, I agree that artificial intelligence has both positive and negative aspects. I think we humans just need to be intentional and ready to learn about it, to adapt to its existence, and to be ready to follow technology's growth in all aspects. That's how we can be able to tell things apart. AI was made to support humans, and we should make sure it does exactly that, not replace us in creativity, care, or connection. I've decided that I, for one, will embrace the good aspects of AI and be watchful of its challenges. *** All photos are taken and edited on canva. ***
Posted Using [INLEO](https://inleo.io/@vickoly/navigating-the-digital-shift-my-thoughts-on-ai-and-its-impact-9cj)
