We all had our good times and bad times in primary school and here's a report of one of my bad times ..hehehe. I guess everyone had a similar experience but still, I'd share mine.

It was the result collection day and teachers laid emphasis on the fact that parents were supposed to get the results and not their wards.   I stayed in school for a very long time and nobody came to collect my result.


My classmates had all gotten their results and I did well to ask  all of them which position they had taken.  We were twenty-five in our class  and about twenty students had already gotten their results. From my steadfast analysis, 1st,3rd,13th,19th and 23rd positions were not taken. Deep down, I knew I didn't do too well that term but still, I was vying for a position that I didn't work for.


My dad was very strict with results and  I was silently hoping that I was the one who took 1st position because it was either 1st or nothing. Tension grew, the parents for the 23rd and 3rd positions had arrived, leaving us with 1st 13th and 19th. 



It didn't cross my mind that the most intelligent girl in my class hadn't gotten her result. Ten minutes later, this girl walked in with her parents and they all walked out smiling. Of course, she took 1st position. It was at this point that I knew that it was over for me.

>**Which position did I take? We're about to find out.**



My class teacher was soon very tired and so she just gave the last results  to us and instructed us to wait for our parents. I took 13th position. "Oh my goodness!" I exclaimed even when I knew that was my rightful position..  Scenes of how my siblings were dealt with when they took positions like 5th or 7th started running through my mind. I said to myself, " it can never be me" as I ran to the female restroom.


In the restroom, I used water to wipe out the  number '3' behind and left only the number '1' in front and so, invariably, I had taken 1st position.


I took my result home happily and showed it to my dad.  My elder sister, who was the smart one, took 2nd and she was  actively being scolded.  As I handed  the result to my dad, he looked at the result and looked back at me.



It was very obvious that I had tempered with the result but I thought he wouldn't notice.   He knew I had tempered with it but he still played ignorant.  

"Oh dear, you took 1st position this term. Are you sure you did? That means I owe you a gift"

I nodded my head as a way to agree with him. He smirked and kept my result aside.

Later in the evening, I was woken up from my siesta and  was dealt with properly. Apart from the part of me faking my result, I lied too…hehehe it wasn't an easy thing.   That particular result had a lot of red pens on it(red pens were used for bad scores) and I didn't take that into consideration when I was cleaning the number '3' from my result and claiming "sharp girl".

After this day, I never tried faking my result and I never even dared to go below the top three students in my class. That would have been a risky business.
