I needed a little bit of luck heading into game 2 of the Orioles, Angels set. So far, I’m 0 for 3 when it comes to Orioles games this year. I bribed my beautiful beau with garlic fries and wore my classic number 5 Brooks Robinson Jersey plus O’s ace Bundy is pitching. I had a good feeling but it turns out it was heartburn.

This is an example of the type of luck the O’s have been running into. Martin Maldonado, the Angels catcher, entered the series 0 for his last 34 but in the first two games against the Orioles, he is 6 for 8 with 2 doubles and a home run. The Orioles actually struck first tonight with a Gentry triple and driven home with a Machado sac fly. That was as good as it got for the wayward O’s.

 

In the bottom of the first, the Angels 2x MVP Mike Trout launched an absolute moonshot to left at 524feet. Then Albert Pujols stepped to the plate to continue his quest towards 3000 and he launched a homer deep into the Angels bullpen in left field for hit number 2997. After a couple more runs, Pujols wasn’t finished as he added his 625th double to his resume passing Hank Aaron for 11thall time.

Later, Justin Upton, the Angels left fielder who had the walk off single the night before, would belt a 3 run shot to knock Bundy out of the game. Maldonado added his home run in the 8thas an insurance run. 

 

After the Angels would make it 9-1, the O’s rallied a bit to make it a competitive game and score 6 in the final two innings to make it a respectable 10-7. Although I was happy to see Pujols inch closer to 3000, I wish he would have done it in a less destructive way to the O’s. I hope I get to see 3000 hits live for once but I hope they are singles and I hope it ends with a Orioles win.
