Hello everyone!
</div>
<br>
<div class="text-justify">
It's been a while since I posted something and my default category to post is usually photography; within that category, flowers are the easiest to compile. I just noticed a pattern in my posting and I can't help but feel that imposter syndrome. There's always this lingering doubt if I'm really fit for content creation. So before the flowers in the mountains of Cebu, let me go off tangent for a while. Let's just go back to the flowers later. It's for the word count anyway. Bear with me.

I was notified in HivePH Discord about a post of a budding group here in the Philippines where I was mentioned. I was not specifically tagged, but they included a link to my post as an example of what to do here in Hive. I felt flattered but the pressure welled inside of me. I didn't have prior interaction with the group as far as I can remember. It's good to be looked up to by people, but as an introvert, I felt a little bit uneasy. It's more of the idea that I should conform to certain standards because people are watching my moves. I know it's unhealthy because it's self-imposed. I wanted to break that mental image I created for myself and be consistently reminded that this page is for my self-expression. While people tend to gravitate towards a certain pedestal that they can look up to, I can always break free of that pedestal. It's good to be a reference, but I shouldn't make that reference become my gilded cage. It needs constant self-affirmation, but I shouldn't get tired of reminding myself.

See where I'm going with this one? No idea either. I just want to share some photos of flowers and I now don't know how to connect these two completely different topics into one cohesive post.

Back to the flowers:

About 10 days ago, I went hiking with @mariasalve and James Glendon in preparation for our nearing Mt. Talinis climb. The route was Guadalupe Church then Kalunasan, then just follow the river until we reach Balisong Falls. We just let James Glendon lead the way as he has the map of the route. As we passed the waterfall, going to Babag area, we passed by a flower field where farmers are busy harvesting their chrysanthemums. The scene that day inspired me to have this post.

I have been hiking in a lot of routes here in Cebu and I'm still surprised by the places near the city that are often just visited by hikers and bikers. We are just a few kilometers from the noisy streets of the city, but it already felt like we were in the countryside. For sure the farmers would sell their cut flowers in Carbon Public Market. It's the biggest drop-off point for goods and fresh produce.

<div class="text-justify">
It was so hot and humid here these days that even if it was just about 8:00 AM, we were already drenched in sweat, and my water had almost run out. We were still far from our destination, but I didn't worry because there are stores along the way. I just enjoyed the scene.

I noticed those square grids made of plastic straws that serve as a trellis for the flowers. Trellises are usually for climbing plants, but I think those are intended for the stalks of the flowers to be upright. Cut flowers are much better if the stalks are long and upright. Anyway, I just admired the painstaking work employed on those structures that only serve as guides for the flowers.

Comparing it to the flowers of a vine we passed near the river, it seems they just bloom wherever and whenever they feel like blooming.

<div class="text-justify">
They are all equally beautiful as they add a splash of colors to the otherwise dry and boring landscape. It's just that the cut flowers are more valuable than the vine. But those flowers don't care about value, they just bloom.

<div class="text-justify">
Maybe I am just thinking too much about my value here. Maybe I'm just crippled by my own imposed standards. What if I'll just bloom? As they say, bloom wherever you are planted.
</div>
<br>
<div class="text-justify">
See what I did there? I was able to connect these two completely different talking points into one post. Seriously though, I was amazed by the landscape during that hike. The heat was a diminishing factor, but it was a good hike after a long time.
