It is for this reason that many people change their way of being, their appearance, their tastes, in order not to be judged and pigeonholed by different prejudices. Unfortunately, this is also a characteristic trait of many people in all times. Precisely to one of those people who do not like to be identified as people of " village ", the Venezuelan composer Guillermo Teruel dedicated this song, one of those people who are ashamed of their origins. The Puerto Rican independence fighter Don Pedro Albizu Campos used to say that "He who is not proud of his origin will never be worth anything, because he begins to despise himself". Despite the seriousness of the matter, Teruel approached the song from a humorous point of view and knew how to win the sympathy of the public that turned this Caracas merengue into a classic of Venezuelan popular music. Although I confess that for this version I substituted the merengue rhythm for the salsa rhythm. This is my participation in the Hive Open Mic, week 119. <center></center> Todos estamos conscientes que los prejuicios son malos, pero creo que es peor cuando uno se deja llevar por ellos. Es por esta razón que muchas personas cambian su forma de ser, su apariencia, sus gustos, para no ser juzgados y encasillados por distintos prejuicios. Ese es lamentablemente también un rasgo característico en muchas personas y en todos los tiempos. Precisamente a una de esas personas que no les gusta que la identifiquen como personas de "pueblo", le dedicó esta canción el compositor venezolano Guillermo Teruel, una de esas personas que se avergüenzan de sus orígenes. Bien decía el independentista puertorriqueño Don Pedro Albizu Campos que "Aquel que no está orgulloso de su origen no valdrá nunca nada, pues comienza a despreciarse a sí mismo". A pesar de lo serio del asunto, Teruel enfocó la canción desde el punto de vista humorístico y supo ganarse la simpatía del público que convirtió este merengue caraqueño, en un clásico de la música popular venezolana. Aunque confieso que para esta versión sustituí el ritmo de merengue por el de la salsa.
