There was a time a few years ago where DJs were throwing any two artists together and touting it as a "great" mash-up regardless of if the groups and songs meshed together well. While Dangermouse's "Grey Album" (which mixed Jay Z's Black Album vocals with beats made from samples off of The Beatles' White Album) set the tone for more obscure mash-up pairs, it worked much better than things like the Wu Tang + Beatles mashup "Enter the Magical Mystery Chambers" and some other more forced pairings that lacked a consistent groove.
DJ Critical Hype dropped one of the better mash-ups a few years back pairing Chance the Rapper's vocals with Kanye West's beats in a no-brainer match up that lived up to the hype. Now Critical Hype has jumped into 2018 with a new collection of mash-up beats and rhymes from two of Compton California's finest.
