Pablo Escobar's mugshot
The brother of notorious Columbian cartel drug lord Pablo Escobar, Roberto Escobar who spent over 11 years in prison for his role as an accountant for the cartel has just launched his own cryptocurrency: Diet Bitcoin (DDX).
A fork of Bitcoin, the new currency promises to offer a lighter and faster alternative to Bitcoin. Roberto’s investment firm, Escobar Inc, is currently running an initial offering, where users can buy the coin at a 96% discount for $2 each usually $50 each.
The Diet Bitcoin website says the total supply of 1,000,000 DDX will be split up into three separate sales, 300,000 Diet Bitcoin will be sold at $50 (discounted to $2), the next 300,000 will go for $100 each, and the final 400,000 will be priced at $1,000 each.
In addition to the new currency, Roberto Escobar has also published a book titled Pablo Escobar’s Diet Bitcoin, where he explains in detail his motivation to launch the coin and makes claims that it was the American Government that created bitcoin and that all of the other cryptocurrencies will eventually be worth nothing while his will thrive.
