We’ve been asked to write a story. This kind of story is always great and presentable. Many are creative and can get stories created about this. But I’m taking part not because I am creative but because it’s just going to be the love story I loved most which happens to be the one that hurt me the most. Love has a good spot in my life. But this pain it’s now a memory I can’t forget. It flashes back almost every day in my life. I wished it was different. If I had the chance to time travel, I think that’s where I would go to make some amendments to see how it will reflect in the future today. Enough of this. Let’s go into the story. Have a tissue for your tears. You might get teary along the way.

I’m going to use characters to represent the true characters of the story. The only person I will let you know who he is in the story is me. So I will be Habib in the story. Here it goes. I hope you enjoy it and give me the advice that comes to mind. ***This post is a submission to the [paritae](https://paritae.com/) blogging competition "[Dating Chronicles](https://peakd.com/hive-164166/@comedyopenmic/the-paritae-comtest-announcement-150-dollars-in-prizes)"***

In the lonely world of Tamale lived a young man called Habib. Habib was a great student of knowledge. He was always ready to learn and had many opportunities in his primary school days. Habib was just an average guy who was from a home she had to make proud of. Studies were always his primary reason for living. So he didn’t have time for friends that much but he still was the most active and friendly one. He was a shark and he was known everywhere because he will always try even if he doesn’t know anything. He was a Mathematics god though.

Habib from a primary which I won’t mention moved to junior high school at a different school. Not that his primary wasn’t fit but his family had a new ambition for him. Tiyumba Junior High was the school he moved to. Tiyumba was known for its great successes and he wanted to also be a part of that history. Habib made it into Tiyumba. That was where he found love.

Habib in JHS was great. He was doing well but wasn’t the best. In the primary, he was always the one they lived up to. JHS in Tiyumba was different. We had people like Salman who was greater than everyone. He was the god of Mathematics no one valued challenge. He was so brilliant that every subject was just simple for him. Salman was Habib’s best friend and the only one he shared secrets with.

In JHS, Habib made a name for himself and grew popular. His seniors came to know who that guy was and that was when he had exposure. In class, he was attentive and contributed when a teacher was in class. But when a teacher is not in class, he would be the noisiest. That was how funny and many didn’t get his personality right. All in all, he had many friends. There in JHS 1, Habib fell in love.

Habib knew and understood what that feeling was. He was free with this lady to the extent they could talk for hours without being tired. They spent time together and Habib was all in her. She was a good student too and had made quite a name for herself. This lady was Rafia. Rafia wasn’t far from Habib when they are at home. They sometimes meet on weekends and just say hi and wait to meet on Monday. This was how Habib’s love story started.

Habib not knowing the feeling expressed himself to Salman at home. Salman listened. Salman made Habib understand its love. Love? Salman didn’t have much to tell him so it was left to Habib to decide. The feeling was growing every day in Habib and he kept pushing all information to Salman. Salman was a good friend but didn’t what to decide for Habib that he will one day push it to him. All that he did was listen, caution him, and give him hope of it succeeding maybe one day. This was where the bad seed was picked.

The relationship between Habib and Rafia kept growing. As in JHS 1, they were in the same class. It was time for promotion and that was where they found themselves in different classes. Rafia and Salman became Visual Arts students. Habib on the other hand, went in for Pre Tech. Salman was still Habib’s main man and still went to him for words of advice. But this new class brought someone into the equation.

In Pre Tech class was Umar, the assistant class prefect to Habib. That was when Habib got to know him but Salman and Rafia had known him from primary school days.

Time passed in JHS. Habib and Rafia were still great friends. Habib was that afraid to find a way to let her know. He didn’t know how to start it and didn’t also want to lose that friendship vibe he had with Rafia. But in as that, he also had that fear of someone taking her away. So he was left to decide between letting her know and just swallowing it and letting the world forget there was ever some feeling he had for Rafia. Could that have been possible? Let’s see what happens.

Salman, Umar, and Rafia often had time they talked for a long. Umar, Habib wasn’t afraid he might do something about Rafia. Umar was also someone Habib never noticed and didn’t see him being a trait to something. It still went on long times and time. It went to the extent they started teasing them as Husband and wife. Habib still didn’t see the light because he was still blinded by what he felt.

Salman and Habib started having conversations as to when he should tell her. It wasn’t the first but this time had been different. He was persistent and as if he knew something was coming. He didn’t say but he was always there and gave me hope to go for the girl. His brother was another who heard about this incident in their JHS 2 and told him, “Bro, if you don’t man up to own what’s yours, you would one day stay here and cry and she wouldn’t even notice you cried about her. Do it before it’s too late. Nothing last for long when it’s free. It’s just a matter of time before someone owns it. If you don’t it won’t be you.” Habib told Salman what his brother said and Salman was in support of that but Habib was still afraid to let it out.

One day after school, Salman asked Habib what’s exactly is his plans. “I don’t know. All I can say is I will do it one day. The fear of rejection is what’s pushing me away. If she says no, how can see her every day and fill okay? So I have to find a way even if she says no, I won’t be bothered that much. Maybe I will say after our BECE I will do so. That would be the best time.” Habib said to Salman. Salman said while laughing, “Well, it’s your decision. I only hope we don’t clean tears at the end of our final paper.” When Habib got home from that day, his brother too asked and that was his response. His brother was pissed off but he just kept quiet to see how the future of his love story will unfold.

Not long after, they were gearing towards JHS 3. It was left with a few days to vacation. After that vacation, they would get into JHS 3 and start the preparation for their BECE. Habib was happy times were drawing near. Umar was now in the picture. The friendship between Habib and Umar wasn’t just a small one. They were paddies. They shared a lot of information but I think they all had the secrets they hid from each other.

On their vacation day, Salman came to Habib and told him, “Bro, I just something is wrong with Umar ooo. I feel he’s in love.” That was funny to Habib. “How does a person in love look like? How can you tell me this story? Bro, it’s our day. Let’s enjoy it.” Umar saw Habib and told him, “I brought two Campaigns. I want to give one to Rafia and one to another person. I don’t know how to do that. ” Habib told him not to worry and when that time comes, he will help him out.

So about the end of the day, Habib and Salman went home. Habib was in the house he received a call from Umar that he can’t give the gift to Rafia so he should come to assist him. Habib came back to school with the help of Umar to hand over the gift to his crush. He came to meet with Umar and collected the gift to hand it to her. Umar then said, “Bro, whatever the case, I will call you to see.”

After Umar left, Habib followed Rafia as she was also going home. When Rafia saw Habib, she was surprised by he was not in his school uniform. They overlooked that and started talking. There were talking when Habib had a call and it was Umar. Umar said he wanted to speak to Rafia. They had their call moment and Habib was just following. She was finally done with the call. Habib handed the campaign to her and they parted ways. Habib didn’t know what Umar told her but nothing came to his mind to ask.

Just as Rafia left, Habib’s phone rang and he answered. He was quiet for some time and finally, the call ended. The content of the call was, “Bro, I’ve been eyeing Rafia for some time now. I just told her today how I feel about her. I hope it’s a good move?” “Oh, Yes she is a great lady. Let’s see how that goes.” Habib said. Habib ended the call and couldn’t make it home. He sat for a long time before he could move home. The first person he spoke to was Salman. Salman had nothing to do but just told him to be patient as he already told him what he was seeing today. He blamed him as it is his fault Umar told her before him. So he just had to deal with it.

Habib left home in sorrow. Sorrow that made him wonder. He wasn’t himself again. His brother was bothered and asked and he told him what had happened. Habib’s brother was happy and told him that’s how the most painful lessons are learned. This was how Habib landed his painful dating experience.

*Life has its ways of teaching us. When we don’t value how we feel about people, there will always be karma that will come to teach us that. This was how I learned my lesson. A lesson I can never forget. I can’t blame my friend for taking the love of my life away and that’s how life treats us. He doesn’t know yet has the same feeling same. My advice is, no matter how hard it meets be to point to the target, just shoot. If you miss, you tried. If you land on it, it would be worth it.*

##### Thanks for passing by. I appreciate.
