Today I have another mix of different genres. Trying to keep switching things up to stay interesting.

**Sweet - Ballroom Blitz**

Glam rock was a strange one, and Sweet maybe pushed the envelope on that quite a bit. From what I understand, they were told to act and dress like homosexuals because the management wanted to capitalize on the movement. They did it well and with incredible confidence.

Ballroom Blitz was released as a single in 1979. I was first introduced to this song when Tia Carrera did a cover of it for Wayne's World. I loved it and followed it to the original. These guys aren't remembered as well today as some, but they have a lot of great songs.

**Missing Heart - Moonlight Shadow**

Speaking of covers, this is a cover of the 1983 song by Mike Oldfield. I'm not usually much of a fan of techno. I mean it can be nice music, but it's never really been something I felt inspired to seek out. An ex-girlfriend really liked this one and she sent it to me, and I enjoyed it enough to keep it in iTunes. That was... about 25 years ago, and here I am still with it in my iTunes library. I still have never gone back to look at any more of Missing Heart's work, but I enjoy this one enough that I keep it. I [found the CD](https://www.discogs.com/release/415828-Missing-Heart-ミッシングハート-Mystery-ミステリー) this is from while I was looking things up for this post. Maybe I'll order it and try out more of her music.

Here is [the original](https://youtu.be/9uYF95jR_ME). There was a longtime fan theory that the lyrics were in reference to John Lennon's murder, despite not matching up perfectly. Oldfield finally addressed that in 1995 by saying they weren't, that it was originally written as a response to the film *Houdini*, but that looking back on it he may have been influenced by the Lennon murder.

**Bob Seger - Against the Wind**

After I watched the video for the previous song, this one automatically started playing in my head. After spending hours as a kid making mixtapes, sometimes my mind automatically wants to pick out the perfect next song. And seems like this is what my subconscious thinks is the perfect next one. So who am I to argue with myself?

In truth, with a gentle melody like that, this song can go well after almost anything. Back in the day Seger dominated the radio, at least in my midwest town in America. He isn't heard as much today. I read that's because he invested well when he was on top of the industry and now is very rich; as a result he no longer feels the need to promote himself or his work. Because of that you may not be as familiar with him as you should be.  

*Against the Wind* has what may be one of my favorite quotes. "Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." If that sounds a little confusing, think about it for a minute. A truer line doesn't exist. Seger was one of the best songwriters in modern history.
