Everyday I go on the hunt for new technology to present to my readers and I try to connect the dots and predict the future.

Have you ever thought about what role humans will actually play once more than half of the workforce has been replaced by them. What about the role of babysitter? Here's a question for you... Will the robots work for us or will we work for them?

Well, in this article I will attempt to find an answer to that last question by looking into a new robot named Wally.

If you book a night at LAX’s Residence Inn its possible you could have a chance to meet Wally yourself. Wally isn't the most amazing robot in the world but its very competent at what it does. Its purpose in life (although it isn't alive itself...) is to bring you room service, navigate around the hotel's lobby and halls and generally just add to the hotel's futuristic atmosphere.

However, many of the tasks Wally was designed to complete can often be complicated by less than ideal circumstances. For example, if you put a tray out in front of your door, it wouldn't be able to get to you.

Another thing Wally wouldn't be able to do is push a cart blocking the hall out of the way. But Wally is no nincompop!

Wally's sophisticated programming directs behavior, human employees at the hotel are there to work for him, not the other way around! When he does get into a spot of trouble, he simply calls for help.

Wally is a 'Relay' robot from a company called Savioke. It has the ability to ring a human agent in a call center in Pennsylvania. When Wally makes the SOS call, a human operator answers, takes control of the robot, and guides it to safety.

Don't take my word for it, check this video out and see for yourself!

What do you guys think about Wally? Do you see this type of robot being introduced in hotels across the country / world in the near future?

How do you feel about serving robots rather than the other way around? Is this just the natural evolution of our species?

Please leave your thoughts, feelings and opinions below!

Thanks for reading @techblogger!
